GOLDEN RULES of E-COMMUNICATION
- Right place … right person … right address – make sure you are sending a response or enquiry to the right place.
-
Worth sending – only say or send things that are useful, don’t clog up cyberspace and waste other people’s time.
-
Get it right – proofread to make sure you are saying what you mean to say.
-
Be polite – it’s more important to be polite online, because online no one can see if you are smiling (or joking).
-
Always delete spam (never reply, even to ask to be removed from the list).
-
Only communicate online when you are calm and happy.
-
Only ‘join’ things suggested by your parents or teachers.
REMEMBER: Email, chat rooms, forums and blogs are not secure environments … only say things that you are happy for the whole world to know.
