GET CREATIVE

Celebrating and promoting

The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge is all about celebrating and promoting health, life skills and creative thinking.

It's also about working together - collaborating - to put together a performance that will wow the audience and the judges - just like this one ...

Where to start?

Choosing a theme ...

Well, first, our E-Rock team will have to work out a 'theme' for our performance that highlights the ideals of the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge.

Check out the 'Quick Link' to my 'Delicious' site.  You'll find heaps of great info on healthy lifestyles, including eating well, drugs and alcohol, body image and self esteem.

Building on our strengths ...

So you think you can dance?

Then, you might be the perfect person to choreograph a dance routine as part of your performance...  It might mean you have to do a little 'teaching' - but there's some great stuff around to help you - check out this clip.

Exploring our capabilities ...

What if you don't dance?

Maybe, you're not what I'd call a 'dancer'.... well, not in the 'traditional' sense!  Why not 'mix it up' a bit with some 'stomp'?

Or maybe you're a 'creative' type?

Excellent!  A Rock Eisteddfod Challenge performance uses lots of different types of 'creativity'!

Choreography is just a small piece of the overall performance - there's things like song and script writing, costumes, props, make-up, stage lighting, music and set design to think of too!

And it's all got to be done on a budget - so you'll have to be creative!

What do we need to know?

You'll probably have lots of questions about what music is available, which music is public domain, how to get permission to use music or lyrics in our performance ...

Where can we find out?

There are lots of places to look. First check out my Cyber Guide's Delicious. Ask some of your friends on Facebook and MySpace. Do a web search.

But once you've found useful sites add them to an E-Rock 'Delicious'site.

Or maybe use Twine!  As the website says, "It's a great way to 'Organize, Share, Discover Information Around Your Interests". You can invite all the E-Rock team to be contributors through the E-Rock Social Network.

You could also survey your peers to gather your own research!

Then let the information COME TO YOU!

Twine will deliver Twine Digests of updates to your email account.each day. Or you can set up RSS feed to your website (like in our E-Rock Social Network).

Topic-specific blogs can be a good place to start. Once you find a blog you like, you can let the information come to you.

Victor Godot's blog has lots of interesting articles about Creative New Media.

I've set up this RSS feed to receive updates from Victor Godot's blog.

At the end of each article on the blog, you can add your own comment or question.

In About Victor you'll find that Victor is actually Diego Morelli, and he provides two email addresses. So he probably would be happy to answer questions about his articles by email.

Victor's articles mention MusicBrainz.

MusicBrainz is part of the Creative Commons initiative. You might want to check that out too.

They have their own RSS feed. If you want it, just copy the URL from the page at the end of this link.

MusicBrainz is a very comprehensive free online database of information about music.

If you're a music geek and want to contribute to MusicBrainz or just keep up-to-date with their new developments, you might like to subscribe to their RSS feed.
